iPhone 16 Pro Review: Small But Mighty with Big Steps Forward
Apple announces numerous phenomenal upgrades with its latest iteration the iPhone 16 Pro that now houses structural and chip enhancements with features like a 5x zoom camera running ever wider. With its improved performance and slim design, it has also become an excellent contender for the best small cell phone on available.
Larger Display and Build Quality
This year’s iPhone 16 Pro won’t look all that different from last years, but it will sport a slightly larger 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display because the bezels have been trimmed down a bit. The display is sharp and colorful, offering striking photos and videos, even though it’s not the brightest outdoors when compared to certain competitors. The glass is said to be 50% stronger than before, but you should use a case for better protection.
New Camera Control Button
The Apple iPhone 16 Pro has five buttons, including the shiny new dedicated camera control It provides a camera quick launch button — accessible even if the screen is locked, alongside exposure, depth and zoom controls. This is great when you need to just take a snap quickly but changing the settings takes a bit of getting used to and is not the easiest thing to switch without shaking your phone.
Impressive Camera System
The iPhone 16 Pro camera receives a major bump, now equipped with the 5x optical zoom that was previously limited to the Pro Max model. The 48MP main camera does well to shoot crisp, detailed photos and the 48MP ultrawide is perfect for taking in broad views and up-close subjects alike as well. The 5x telephoto camera makes the zoom levels actually useful, with ZTE claims will still let you capture lots of detail in your zoomed-in photos at a distance.
Apple announced new Photographic Styles that enables users to select the color and tone looks you want in your photo, right as you capture. You can either opt a vintage look or else you can go really, the choice is customizable and imaginative.
A18 Pro Chip with faster and improved efficiency
The iPhone 16 Pro is roughly ~10~15% faster and about 20% more efficient than the previous one thanks to its new A18 Pro chip. The performance has changed gaming, multitasking and everyday use by making it faster. This keeps the phone cool and provides good battery life too, lasting for about 38-40 hours with normal usage.
iOS 18 Released: With New Features (AI for now)
The iPhone 16 Pro is powered by iOS 18, which includes more home screen customization, as well updates for Photos, Notes and Maps apps along with RCS messaging support. But many of Apple’s other much-anticipated AI updates, such as a smarter Siri and image generation, will wait for future rollouts in the US and abroad.
Longevity and Repairability
Apple keeps working on sustainability, with over 25% of iPhone 16 Pro made from recycled materials such as aluminum, cobalt and lithium. Apple claims the phone’s battery is good for more than 1,000 charge cycles and costs £109 to replace. There are repair guides, and the phone got a 7 out of 10 for repairability.
Ruling: A compact powerhouse of a phone
Overall, the iPhone 16 Pro is a class leader when it comes to size and power, making it our favorite high-end phone for Size Queens. It has the same high-end camera system as the Pro Max, a faster chip and excellent battery life, so it goes toe-to-toe with competitors like the Google Pixel 9 Pro.
Priced at £999, it’s nestled inbetween an iPhone 16 standard as well as the bigger Pro Max, making a solid case if you usually choose features over dimension. However, the camera control button means a bit of finery and Apple’s not-yet-available AI applications are behind the offer from competitors like Google.
