Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, North Carolina: Accusations of Extramarital Site Registration and Controversial Online comments

Republican candidate for governor’s own words have been landing him in trouble.

Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson of North Carolina has an email account registered on Ashley Madison, a website for married persons looking for extramarital relationships.

Robinson’s advisor, who was given permission to talk freely and remain anonymous, told POLITICO that Robinson is the owner of the disputed email address. Robinson had not created an Ashley Madison account, according to a representative for the man.
According to Mark Robinson’s communications director Mike Lonergan, “Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson denies that he ever created or used an account on this website.”

A website indicating the aforementioned email address has been hacked in several data breaches was also linked to by Robinson’s campaign.

Before CNN heaped a ton of dirt on Mark Robinson on Thursday afternoon, the tub-thumping Republican candidate for governor of North Carolina had been attempting to pull himself out of issues brought on by his own remarks.

Throughout the campaign and his tenure as the state’s lieutenant governor, Robinson has regarded indignation over his growing list of racist, sexist, homophobic, and antisemitic offenses as a badge of pride. However, CNN’s investigation delved into his explicit online past, revealing remarks that were nonetheless shocking.

A CNN KFile investigation revealed that Mark Robinson, the divisive and socially conservative Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina, made a number of inflammatory remarks on a message board on a pornographic website more than ten years ago. In those remarks, he called himself a “black NAZI!” and expressed support for bringing back slavery.

Robinson claimed to like watching transgender pornography despite a previous history of anti-transgender rhetoric; a study of archived chats revealed that he also called himself a “perv.”

The remarks, which Robinson disputes, were made before he entered politics and began serving as lieutenant governor of North Carolina. They were created using a username that CNN recognized as Robinson by comparing a long list of personal characteristics and a common.
