Upstate NY Man Mauls to Death by Pack of Pit Bulls
A 59-year-old man in Schenectady, New York was mauled to death on Monday by a group of pit bulls. The violent mauling finally stopped after a cop shot one of the animals, sparking to attention and causing the others to back off. The community has been stunned by the case, and there is an ongoing investigation.
Details of the Attack:
The attack happened around 6 p.m., on the Oak farm where 10 pit bulls were located next to a suspected drug house with some normal criminals? the victim was James Provost Horrific: Schenectady Police Chief Eric Hawkins [photo] called the attack ‘horrific’ during a press conference. All of it transpired as the dogs were seen on video obtained by CBS 6 viciously mauling Provost, dragging his motionless body.
Police Intervention:
When a police officer arrived at the scene, he said there were eight or nine dogs standing around the victim. One of the dogs was shot by the officer and fled, followed by the other three. The dogs’ owner and another caretaker who lived nearby joined in wrangling the rest of the pups back inside the home.
History of the Dog House:
The break-in was the second time in May that police were called to raid the home where Cena and Sterling were confined. Dogs that were seized in a raid were eventually given back. Whether these dogs had anything to do with the fatal attack or not is still unknown.
Investigation Underway:
A total of 24 pit bulls, including 15 puppies, were seized and given to a local humane society. No charges had been filed as of Thursday, but the sheriff’s office is investigating why the victim was behind the house and why the owner had so many dogs. The dogs future will be at the mercy of the judicial system.
Seeking Justice:
Hawkins stressed the investigation will determine if anyone is criminally culpable for Provosts death. “Someone is criminally responsible for this, and we’re gonna figure out who it is,” he said of the fatal killing of the innocent party.
